Born in Nicholson, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Balassa Lengel and was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School. Nancy also graduated from the Temple School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse prior to her retirement. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, Scranton. Family and friends may call Thursday, August 26 from 4-7 PM at the Albert P. O’Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore.

He was a custodian at Saint Clare’s School, and always had a friendly wave for everyone passing through Dunmore Corners while he was a courier for FNCB. After graduating from college, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers but declined in order to pursue business interests which spanned a 40-year successful career in the equipment industry. Bobby was a loving and caring man who considered his friends as his family. He was an avid sports fan and fisherman, which led to meeting his loving second wife Marcia of 18 years, who gave him a second chance at love. Ellen truly enjoyed family vacations and her annual Irish weekend with the girls.

He graduated from Scranton Preparatory School in 1960 and the University of Scranton in 1964, where he was president of his class, president of the student body, and a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit Honor Society. He also served as president of the university’s National Alumni Society. He received a juris doctorate from Villanova University School of Law in 1967. He then became the first law clerk for Lackawanna Court, clerking for Judges Hoban, Robinson, Conaboy and Kosik. He practiced civil law in Scranton for more than fifty years and was admitted to the Lackawanna Court of Common Pleas, all Pennsylvania appellate courts, the federal Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of International Trade.

Born in Scranton, June 14, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Karl A. Frank enjoyed his motorcycles and traveling throughout the United States. Most of all Frank enjoyed spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center or Our Lady of Peace, Scranton. The funeral will be Tuesday, Jan. 25 from the Albert P. O’Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore, at 10 a.m.

However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death. Willie’s remains were reposing in WJ O’Donnell and Sons South Derry Funeral Home, 43 Glenone Road, Clady . Visitors were welcome to call and pay their respects on Thursday 3rd November from 5pm until 6.30pm whereby his remains were then removed to St Mary’s Church, Portglenone. Requiem Mass on Friday 4th November at 12noon followed by burial immediately afterwards in Aghnahoy Cemetery.
Edward A. Karabin, 83, of Scranton died Friday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dianne Tierney Karabin. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Julia Cosminski Karabin and stepson of the late Michael Petrisin. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed as the Operations Manager for Dunmore Oil Company. Gerald M. Durkin, 76, of South Abington Township and formerly of Dunmore died November 3, 2021 at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.

He was also an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed walks with Bulldozer, the family dog. Attorney James Martin Scanlon of Scranton died Wednesday, November 17, 2001, in Scranton at the age of 85. He and his wife, Ann Ruane Scanlon, celebrated 53 years of marriage in October. Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late James W. Scanlon, Esq. and Margaret Ford Scanlon. Jim was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School where he was Valedictorian of his Senior Class, Harvard University, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Lee Rosenkrans. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. And Mary Theresa Rybnik DeCresenza and was a graduate of Bishop O’Hara High School.
James J. Munley
John had many interests, including reading historical biographies, studying architecture, and working in real estate. He enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially to his favorite beaches. But more than anything he was well known for walking through his beloved Dunmore neighborhoods. Paul J. Gaughan, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday. He was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Timlin Gaughan. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School where he was standout basketball player, and he attended Bloomsburg College.

She found relaxation with cooking, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. Clair was a proud journeyman electrician, a member of IBEW-Local 81. Clair taught electrical trades at the Career Technology Center in Scranton and Delaware Valley High School.
Anne M. Dougherty, 90, of Dunmore, died Friday at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Thomas J. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James L. And Ethel Paradise and was a graduate of the Scranton Technical High School, class of 1949.

When a Catholic guy from Lowell named Bob asked her out, Elsa said yes. When they wanted to get married and some disapproved, Elsa eloped with him. And after they were married, Elsa left her job to start a family. Elsa’s interest in history helped their son Stephen find a career in historic preservation; her interest in art led to their son Scott’s career in design.
