After his military service, Frank continued to serve military veterans as a Disabled Veterans Employment Representative with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor. Serving his community, Frank held the position as Scott Township Manager/Zoning Officer. Frank J. Paris, 82, Major, U.S. Army retired, originally from Scranton, PA, passed away on December 10, 2021 in Spring Hill, FL. He died as he lived, courageously. And Yolanda Antignoli Paris of Scranton, PA. A graduate of St. Patrick’s HS and the University of Scranton, Frank retired from the U.S. He served 2 tours of duty in Europe and numerous military instillations throughout the United States.

Elsa was born on January 22, 1932, in the house her father built at 5 Yale Street in North Chelmsford--the only house she ever lived in. She grew up as an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, which was then the center of the Swedish immigrant community in South Lowell. Elsa sang in the choir and played center forward on the girls’ basketball team. Among his several interests, he enjoyed watching Horse racing and was an avid pool player, and spent many years playing a game he loved throughout his life.

Eugene Joseph Kane Jr. of Clarks Summit and Vero Beach, Florida, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Joan Flynn Kane and the late Eugene J. Kane. He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory and the University of Scranton. James T. Volz of Scranton died unexpectedly Tuesday. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan O’Brien Volz.

He was subsequently promoted to Supervisor of Special Education where he excelled in his role until his retirement in 2015. She belonged to the Laurel Garden Club , and went to Horticulture classes to learn the love of flowers, where she ended up giving up her time to beautify peoples yards and businesses. She gave some of her time to help people feel comfortable, cared for, and loved at St. Mary’s Villa, the Jewish Home, and Holy Family. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Mary Galisen Hryshko, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and worked for Grove Textile in her younger days. She was the former owner of Reilly Landscaping with her husband Thomas and then passed it on to their son, Daniel. She began work at Scranton’s Globe Store in 1957, from which she retired in the late 1970s.

Betty was a wonderful mom and grandmother, and a kind and generous friend. She was a member of the Dunmore Community Chorus for more than 30 years. Our PetBacker sitters come from a diverse range of backgrounds and many are professionals in the pet care industry themselves. We have pet sitters that range from vets and nurses, to dog trainers and rescue volunteers. With such a wide range of skill sets, you are sure to meet a sitter that will meet your dog’s needs. If there is a change of ownership we must be kept informed who responsible party is. We are an all volunteer, non profit organization that is dedicated to re-homing Labradors, Great Danes, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, and Irish Wolfhounds. Home Fur-Ever has started a campaign on My Giving Circle, a site that awards grants to non-profits. Grants will be used to help pay medical bills for the dogs we foster. In recent years, we as a rescue are witnessing a dramatic increase in the number of obese dogs that walk through our doors. Whether that be dogs previously adopted from Home for Good or dogs who come into our facility to meet their potential sibling, the same idea applies.

If another dog or dogs are present in the household we require a meet and greet prior to adoption. We do not adopt our rescues out without meeting person that will be responsible - no "gift" adoptions. We contract that if cat/dog must be relinquished they are returned to us.

We take a majority of our cats and dogs from County, many who have treatable medical conditions and would otherwise be put down. We assess physical and behavior and work with the cats/dogs to find the best suitable match. It is our goal that each cat or dog that comes to our shelter ultimately be placed in their "furever" homes. When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. Dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We believe a pet is a lifetime commitment and every animal deserves a stable and loving home. HOME 'FUR' GOOD is a group of individuals who are animal lovers at heart. We have banded together to make a positive difference in the lives of homeless cats and dogs in Maricopa County. Each year, thousands of unwanted and injured animals are euthanized.
